Hug in a Mug Tea

Hug in a Mug Tea is an herbal tea with a blend of elderberry, rose hips, along with echinacea, licorice root, ginger and vanilla.   We recommend adding honey to this tea for a fruity lightly sweetened tea.

Elderberries are grown on tall bushes and are dark purple or black in color.  They have been called a superfood for being packed with antioxidants and high in vitamin C.

Echinacea is an herb with a flower.  Per Mount Sinia information, people use echinacea to shorten the duration of the common cold and flu, and reduce symptoms, such as sore throat (pharyngitis), cough, and fever. Many herbalists also recommend echinacea to help boost the immune system and help the body fight infections.

Fun fact, Herbal "tea" is not technically tea, because it is not made from the Camellia Sinensis plant. An herbal tea is a called a "tisane" or "infusion." Herbal teas are made from any combination of fruits, herbs, flowers, and spices and are naturally caffeine-free.

Hot:  The fruity caffeine free flavors make this an excellent hot tea.  Use 1 teaspoon of Hug in a Mug tea in 1 cup of boiling water for 4-5 minutes.  Add sweetener.  You can steep the same tea bag several times during one sitting.

You can also ice Hug in a Mug – make this tea hot and then put in the fridge for later.  If I am going to add ice, then I make the tea stronger so it doesn’t get watered down.  Use a little more tea in the cup for steeping.  If not using ice after refrigerated, just make as usual.

Great News!  Per the Tea Association of the USA, Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world next to water, and can be found in almost 80% of all U.S. households. It is the only beverage commonly served hot or iced, anytime, anywhere, for any occasion. On any given day, over 159 million Americans are drinking tea.
